The offering in Christianity is a gift of money to the Church beyond a Christian’s payment of his/her tithes. In Christian worship, there is a part reserved for the collection of donations that is referred to as the offertory.
Nowadays there are up to 6 offerings in Nigerian churches.
1. Sunday school offering
2. Testimony offering
3. Building levy offering
4. Youth offering
5. Offerings for needy
6. Tithe and lot more
They would be like, “stand up and raise your offering” and being left on the seat while others stood, makes one feel bad and ashamed.
One of the reasons why I no longer attend any church service, because I’m sick and tired of the endless offerings, more like extortion.
